banned motorist caught drink driving
A COVENTRY man was caught drink-driving on the A444 in Coventry - while already banned from getting behind the wheel.
Ravinder Paliah, 27, of Hedgefield Way, Tile Hill, was stopped by officers on February 15 and blew a reading of 45 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35 mcg.
Paliah admitted driving while disqualified, drink-driving, driving a vehicle without a valid test certificate and driving without insurance when he appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court.
He was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for a year, banned from driving for a further three years and given 40 hours unpaid work, as well as having to pay £135 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
Other cases heard at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 17, included:
Nathan Arundell, 22, of Sullivan Road, Courthouse Green, admitted being drunk and disorderly. He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.
William Fairley, 40, of Brendon Way, Nuneaton, admitted causing £300 worth of damage to a car. He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £75 compensation, £135 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
Tommy Hudson, 21, of Ford Bridge, Solihull, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm in Coventry. He was given 240 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation £185 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
Oliver Wheeler, 25, of Lindley Road, Stoke, admitted drink-driving in Middle Ride (breath 42, limit 35). He was banned from driving for a year, fined £120 and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
Benjamin Forsyth, 21, of no fixed abode, admitted two counts of causing damage to car windows and two counts of assaulting a police officer. He was ordered to pay a total of £200 compensation,
Adam Howard, 36, of Himbleton Drive, Binley, admitted assaulting a police officer and stealing a motor vehicle. He was given a community order including a rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to pay £375 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
Richard Adey, 31, of Dillitford Avenue, Styvechale, admitted causing £150 of damage to a door frame. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £150 compensation, £100 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
Jaroslav Ceri, 27, of Lawford Road, Rugby, was found guilty of stealing electrical goods worth £72 from Tesco in Coventry and failing to answer bail. He was fined £340 and ordered to pay £2.50 compensation, £300 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
