Pae­dophile who made 6,000 in­de­cent im­ages is jailed for a year

A NUNEATON pae­dophile has been put be­hind bars and placed on the sex of­fender reg­is­ter af­ter thou­sands of child abuse im­ages were dis­cov­ered at his home.

Ian Par­rot pleaded guilty to mak­ing more than 6,000 in­de­cent im­ages, which were seized from his home last year.

The 49-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of mak­ing an in­de­cent im­age of a child and one count of pos­sess­ing a pro- hi­b­ited im­age of a child. He’s been jailed for a year af­ter of­fi­cers from War­wick­shire Po­lice’s On­line Child Sex­ual Ex­ploita­tion Team raided his home in South­field Close, Nuneaton, af­ter re­ceiv­ing in­for­ma­tion that in­de­cent im­ages had been ac­cessed from the ad­dress on Au­gust 11, 2016.

A num­ber of lap­tops and stor­age de­vices were seized from the prop­erty and a to­tal of 6,539 child abuse im­ages were found stored on them.

Of the 6,539 in­de­cent im­ages found on Par­rot’s de­vices, 401 were graded as the most se­ri­ous of Cat­e­gory A. Par­rot, now of Freer Street, Nuneaton, ac­cepted re­spon­si­bil­ity and was ar­rested as a re­sult.

He was sen­tenced on Wed­nes­day at Warwick Crown Court to 12 months in prison and will serve 12 months on li­cence fol­low­ing his re­lease.

He was handed a Sex­ual Harm Pre­ven­tion Or­der (SHPO) for 10 years and will be placed on the Sex Of­fender Reg­is­ter for 10 years.

In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer De­tec­tive Con­sta­ble James Grif­fiths said: “These im­ages are of real chil­dren suf­fer­ing from real harm and hor­ren­dous abuse.

“War­wick­shire Po­lice and the Op­er­a­tion Safenet team are com­mit­ted to track­ing down and bring­ing to jus­tice those who make and down­load this kind of ma­te­rial.”
