650 MORE HOMES MAY BE BUILT OFF THE LONG SHOOT
ANOTHER development could see more than 600 homes built off a main road in Nuneaton.
A number of new housing estates have sprung up off The Long Shoot in Nuneaton in recent years and another development could be on its way.
Gladman Homes has revealed it is in the early stages of preparing a planning application for up to 650 new houses to be built on the prime location.
They are currently proposing building new homes of various sizes, types and tenures, and up to 25 per cent of the properties are expected to be affordable housing.
The plans also include a new area of greenspace made up of woodland, hedgerows, play areas or footpaths.
With hundreds of homes being built off an already busy road, many residents have raised concerns about how traffic could be affected.
Gladmans is attempting to address that problem by creating two signalled junctions off The Long Shoot with pedestrian access.
They are also vowing to provide a “sustainable drainage solution” to manage surface water run off in the area.
If approved, this would be one of many developments built off The Long Shoot. Barratt Homes and Davidsons Homes have both recently launched hundreds of new homes in the same area.
An information leaflet has been published for residents ahead of the submission of the application and the developer has opened a consultation seeking people’s views.
It said: “We appreciate that people who live within the immediate vicinity of our hous- ing proposals may be concerned about matters such as increased levels of road traffic, loss of views and many other topics.”
The leaflet says that residents’ views matter to them and they have tried to address the concerns within the document.
The developer is also looking for suggestions on how it can support public facilities and make improvements to the community.
They have said that financial contributions will be made where there is a need to increase capacity in local services, such as schools and GP surgeries.
When contacted by the Telegraph Gladman Homes said it would not comment on the proposal.
It is not yet known when the application will be submitted to the council but comments can be sent by email to comments@ your-views.co.uk with the subject line Nuneaton.
