New Aldi set to open

A NEW Aldi store in Nuneaton will open for business on Thursday and create 15 jobs.

The new 12,270 sq ft store will be the second Aldi store in the town.

It is one of 70 outlets the budget supermarket chain is opening across the UK this year.

Ricardo Sealey, the manager of the new Weddington Road store, said: “One of the most exciting things about a new store opening is surprising people that haven’t shopped at Aldi before with the quality and low prices of our award-winning products.

“We call the feeling the ‘thrill at the till,’ when you realise just how much lower your grocery bill is at Aldi.

“We are getting ready to open our new store and are looking forward to getting to know our local customers.”

The new store sees the transformation of a derelict site following a devastating blaze at the former Abbey Metals factory in 2010.

In 2015 outline plans for the store were given the green light by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and, more recently, the council approved more detailed proposals.

The new store will be open from 8am until 10pm every day apart from Sunday, when it will be open from 10am to 4pm.

Aldi opened its sixth Coventry store at the Airport Retail Park near Tollbar Island last month.

It joins stores at the Gallagher Retail Park in Stoney Stanton Road, Radford Road, Radford, Roseberry Avenue, Bell Green, Shultern Lane, Cannon Park and Hinckley Road in Walsgrave.
