Boy, 14, injured after falling 20ft through roof in the city centre

A 14-YEAR-OLD boy has suffered serious injuries after falling 20ft through a roof in Coventry city centre.

Emergency services were called to the rear of Iceland and Coventry market shortly after 8.30pm on Thursday.

He had suffered multiple injuries after falling through the perspex roofing over the alleyway leading into Market Way.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were on the scene to treat the teenager.

He was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries and pelvic pain.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service: “We were called to the rear of Iceland in Market Way at just after 8.30pm to reports of a teenager who had fallen through a roof.

“We had one ambulance and a paramedic officer attend with a critical care car from Air Ambulance Service with a doctor on board.

“We treated a 14-year-old boy who fell approximat­ely 20ft through a perspex roof.

“He suffered head injuries, pelvic pain and leg injuries.

“He was given pain relief, oxygen and fully immobilise­d before taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.”
