OC­TO­BER 12, 1940: Work­ers are pic­tured clear­ing up out­side the F. W. Wool­worth & Co Ltd. store in Coven­try fol­low­ing an air raid on Oc­to­ber 12. In this raid, the cen­tral area of the city suf­fered badly with a high ex­plo­sive bomb scor­ing a di­rect hit on the City Ar­cade (on Messrs Adams, China Store). Ev­ery shop front in the ar­cade was wrecked, 31 peo­ple were killed and more than 100 in­jured. Do you re­mem­ber the air raids in 1940?
