TWO women from London came to Coventry just after Christmas and stole nearly £500 worth of fragrances from a city centre store.

Beya Kalombo and Irene Kazadi carried out the theft at Boots in the Lower Precinct on December 27, but were caught in the act and dragged before magistrate­s the next day.

Kalombo, 28, of Stainton Road, Enfield, London, and Kazadi, 30, of Victoria Road, South Woodford, London, both pleaded guilty to the theft.

Kazadi, who also admitted a charge of assault by beating, was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for a year and ordered to pay £100 compensati­on, £185 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Meanwhile, Kalombo was given 60 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £185 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Other cases heard at Coventry Magistrate­s’ Court from December 26 to January 2, included:

32, of Stoke Row, Stoke, admitted entering Ecigwizard as a trespasser with intent to steal. He was sent to prison for 12 and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
