Pass­ing nurse tries to save life of biker

A BIKER has died af­ter a crash in Al­der­man’s Green.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to the junc­tion of Hall Green Road and Al­mond Tree Av­enue in Coven­try at 6.30pm on Wed­nes­day, af­ter a mo­tor­bike col­lided with a sil­ver Ford Mon­deo.

De­spite the best ef­forts of a pass­ing nurse, the biker - a man in his 50s, was pro­nounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the ve­hi­cle, a 28-year-old man from Rad­ford , was ar­rested by of­fi­cers on sus­pi­cion of caus­ing death by dan­ger­ous driv­ing.

He re­mained in po­lice cus­tody for ques­tion­ing yes­ter­day.

West Mid­lands Po­lice Col­li­sion In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit is look­ing into the crash and has urged wit­nesses to come for­ward.

Sergeant Alan Wood said: “We un­der­stand that the col­li­sion took place at the junc­tion be­tween the two roads... the biker suf­fered very se­ri­ous in­juries and there was noth­ing that could be done to save him.

“I would ask any­one who saw the col­li­sion or saw the bike or sil­ver Mon­deo in the mo­ments lead­ing up to the im­pact to please get in touch as they could hold vi­tal in­for­ma­tion.”
