Love Island family flee home

Coventry Telegraph - - NEWS - By EMMELINE SAUNDERS & JAMES RODGER

THE FAMILY of a Love Island star who sensationally quit the villa earlier this week have fled their home in Coventry .

According to reports, the family of Niall Aslam have gone to ground after leaving their home in the city.

Earlier this week, the 23-year-old man quit the villa in mysterious circumstances.

Viewers had been hoping to see his exit in the latest episode, but were disappointed that he did not make an appearance, or say farewell to his costars.

Aslam, who had a Harry Potter tattoo and joyfully compared himself to a “rainbow fish”, had been a popular addition to this year’s series, and had been coupled up with Georgia Steel.

A&E doctor Alex George had been tasked with relaying the news of Aslam’s exit to the other Love Island stars, who were all stunned at the revalation.

The Mirror Online reports the real reason the popular contestant left the villa was because of health reasons. But since then, not a single peep has been heard from Niall himself - and his family have fled their home in Coventry, leaving a note pinned to their front door asking members of the media to contact ITV’s press office with any questions.

Mirror Online can also reveal that Niall’s cousin, who was running his social media accounts while he was filming in Majorca, has handed over all responsibility to Love Island bosses, with ITV’s press officers fielding all enquiries on behalf of the Aslams.

It came as an unidentified friend of Niall shed some worrying light on his state of mind, claiming he suffers from crippling insecurities about his looks and can’t deal with conflict.

“Niall left for personal reasons regarding himself only. He doesn’t deal well with stress or criticism, and would hate to have situations where he’s involved in conflict publicised,” the source told Mail Online .

“It’s an emotionally stressful environment and he over worries to the point where he gets stressed.” Niall - who compared himself to the children’s book character the Rainbow Fish, “which everyone hates because it’s different” - had particular trouble accepting his ears, which he felt stuck out too much.

He’d undergone an otoplasty - ear pinningback surgery - in May 2017 to boost his confidence and seemed much happier about his looks in photos he shared on Instagram afterwards.

ITV has declined to comment further on the exact situation.
