Two Poppies

Coventry Telegraph - - YOUR VIEWS -

Red poppy blood stained Drooping lifeless on stem, From half-lidded eyes Can only scorn white poppy Drained of pain, Yet both remember In their own way, Lives torn in wind Of a violent shower, Red poppy in remembrance Returning to petal shorn past White to future living, When both rest together Forgiving present hour, Perhaps they will be blessed With a single stalk, Holding love above all talk To create one flower of peace.
