Crime Scene - - POST MORTEM - By DEIRDRE O’BRIEN

ife has not been kind to Lori Anderson. Accustomed to living on her wits and taking care of herself, the Florida-based bounty hunter takes no prisoners – except, of course, when it’s in the line of duty.

But she does have an Achilles heel in the form of her nineyear-old daughter, Dakota. Although the little girl is in remission from leukaemia, her medical bills remain sky high. Hence Lori’s reluctance to take her along when she’s tasked with bringing in JT, a fugitive who is also a significant figure from her past. When the job goes very wrong indeed, it explodes into a battle for survival – for both Lori and her child.

Zinging with action from the very first page, this debut novel is an absolute firecracker of an action thriller. Fast-talking Lori leaps off the page as a living, breathing creation, while the gritty detail of lowrent motel rooms and down-at-heel truck stops transports you to a seamy Florida you won’t see in the tourist brochures. With the simmering subplot of Lori and JT’S romantic attraction to add an extra dimension, it’s fresh, fast and totally convincing. And the good news is it’s only the first in a series following Lori Anderson’s adventures.
