Intel Core i9
There’s nothing like a good bit of competition to put the wind up Intel, and after getting thoroughly trounced by AMD’s Ryzen CPUs over the past few months, Intel has rushed out the first of its top-end Core-X CPUs, which use the LGA2066 socket. On p19, we take a look at the new Skylake-X architecture, courtesy of Intel’s brandnew 10-core Core i9-7900X, which comes in at under a grand, massively undercutting Intel’s previous 10-core flagship, the Core i7-6950X.
Not only that, but we’ve also tested the new platform with several memory frequencies to find the sweet spot (see p24), and there’s a full overclocking guide on p26. In addition, you’ll also find test results for the 8-core Core i7-7820X in the system reviews on p64-67, and an X299 motherboard Labs test on p46.
