Asus releases all-AMD laptops
Asus has just announced its very first gaming laptop to feature an AMD CPU. The top-end ROG Strix GL702ZC uses a full-fat 8-core Ryzen 7 1700 chip, which the company says is based on the same silicon as the desktop CPU, and variants based on the 6-core Ryzen 5 1600 and quad-core Ryzen 3 1200 will also be available. Not surprisingly, the chips will not be overclockable, however. In addition, the laptops also feature AMD GPUs, with the Radeon RX 580 promising decent gaming performance, as well as enabling tear-free gaming on the laptop’s FreeSync screen. The ROG Strix GL702ZC is due to be available later in the summer this year.
