Kensington 62402 Duo Gel Mousepad
Kensington 62402 Duo Gel Mousepad/£ 15.99incVAT
The Kensington Duo Gel Mousepad got off to a bad start when our Logitech G Pro test mouse didn’t like the surface and the pointer went all over the shop. That’s not to say that all mice will have the same issues, but it’s a mark against this pad. The Duo Gel also has a small surface and a squashy wrist pad, making it only practical for highly sensitive mice – ideally, small ones. It has an adhesive base, which is a smart move, because it needs to stick firmly when you’re running a mouse over its small surface area. If your mouse works on it, then it isn’t a terrible design in terms of comfort, but there are certainly more reliable pads available. SUPPLIER www.amazon.co.uk
iQualtech BluetoothPill Speakers/£ 29.50incVAT
The Bluetooth Pill speakers are, not surprisingly, pill-shaped Bluetooth speakers that can be used singularly or as part of a pair. The controls are very simple, with a power switch on the back, play/pause controls on the front and every other function left up to whatever device it’s paired with. The battery life, charged by USB, ranged from four to nine hours, depending on volume, which is lower than many portable speakers but adequate for home use. The sound quality is very good given the size of the of the speaker, which more than compensates for the lack of other features. SUPPLIER www.amazon.co.uk
GT Omega Racing Laptop Backpack/£ 34.95incVAT
The GT Omega Racing laptop backpack is a compact but efficiently laid-out backpack that’s designed to accommodate a laptop with up to a 17.3in screen, while offering assorted pockets and compartments for other supplies up to a stated weight of 40kg. The laptop storage area is in the compartment that’s closest to the wearer. It secures a laptop with Velcro tabs and padding, and prevents it from bumping against the wearer with a healthy layer of the ordinary back padding that you’d expect on any decent pack.
The main compartment is roomy, and has an obligingly square shape that’s ideal for folders, files and so on, with another slimmer compartment in front of it. There’s also a small hidden compartment under a part of the back padding, and a couple of bottle pockets on the sides. Little about the pack from the outside indicates that it’s carrying a laptop, and it’s also waterproof, which takes some of the urgency out of getting from A to B if the weather is being particularly British.
