Gore Universal Windstopper £34.99

These are made from Gore Windstopper fabric that’s thinner and of a lighter gauge than that of a Castelli Gabba or similar jacket.

Other features include a durable water repellent (DWR) coating and subtle reflective graphics and details. The seams are all flatlocked for added comfort.

The Windstopper fabric has loads of stretch and there’s plenty of length too.

The water-repellent coating is OK in short showers, but quickly wetted out in sustained wet weather. This was further compounded by the wide cuffs and arm grippers, which are not water repellent and soaked up quite a lot of moisture.

The fit is pretty good, made better by the asymmetric design with specific left and right arm-warmers. But the grippers aren’t as effective as some: the Gores had a tendency to slip down a little. Furthermore, there are no external grippers or silicone dots to help grip the inside of your jersey sleeve. This is a little disappointing considering the price.
