Stage winner: Edvald Boasson Hagen (Nor) Dimension Data
Worcester > Cardiff, 180km
In keeping with the theme of the week the riders were once again drenched by the rain which poured down from the start. They most likely weren’t too cold though as the final day kicked off at a blistering pace. Boasson Hagen made his intentions to try and snatch the overall victory clear by twice taking the maximum bonus seconds at the day’s intermediate sprints and narrow his gap to Lars Boom.
Come 3km to go he took off to try and eke out a gap of eight seconds and a stage win that would have jumped him into the overall lead. It looked like he might pull it off until a concerted chase from Quick Step Floors in pursuit of the stage win pulled the bunch up to his wheel in the closing metres. The Norwegian did still claim the stage as consolation, however. Race leader: Lars Boom (Ned) Lottonl-jumbo
