Is the law different in France? I’ve just returned from a cycling trip in rural France. I had no issues at all with French drivers, who gave a wide berth to cyclists, even on narrow roads (The only issues I had were with a couple of Brits!).
Someone told me that under French law, drivers who collide with cyclists are assumed to be in the wrong unless they can prove otherwise.
If this is true, perhaps we need a similar law here in the UK — especially after some of the odd legal opinions recently seen in
