Waiving the right

Cycling Weekly - - Letters -

In response to Chris Denley’s letter (CW Sept 21) and the many others who continue to write on the matter of ‘fellow rider acknowledgement’ I would be grateful if somebody could show me where in the unwritten rules of bike ownership it states that I have to give a jolly hello or thumbs-up to every Tom, Dick and Chris who passes me on my ride. Like many other cyclists I have been riding for decades for the simple joy of being on the road in perfect solitude. I am not ignorant, I’m simply in my own happy world. My advice to Chris et al would be to stop worrying about your notion of other people’s manners and simply get on with enjoying your ride.
