New Hour record set for the over 90s

Cycling Weekly - - News -

Proving that age is no barrier to performance, or the ability to squeeze into a skinsuit, René Gaillaird laid down a new Hour record marker for the 90-94 year age group, making him the first person to do so. Gaillaird set the record of 29.278km at France’s national velodrome in Saint Quentin en Yvelines, western Paris. The track’s dimensions are well suited to the record with long bankings and shorter straights giving smooth transitions which are more suited to timed, lone efforts. Gaillaird raced to a high standard on the road in the 1950s and still rides regularly with his club Cyclosport Club de Vesoul.
