Italian Maria Vittoria Sperotto (Bepinkcoge­as) took her first profession­al victory by winning a close-fought sprint at the Tour of Guangxi Women’s Elite World Challenge. The 110km race — run on the same course as the men’s final stage — saw Amy Cure (Wigglehigh­5) finish second and her British team-mate Lucy Garner third.

Saturday, October 28

In the Flemish Cyclo-cross Cup in Zarren, Belgium, 18-year-old Brit Thomas Mein, representi­ng Hope Factory Racing, finished sixth. The winner was 27-year-old Mathieu Willemyns. In the Masters C category, Briton Roy Hunt (Colnago) rode to seventh.

Sunday, October 29

Dutch rider Maud Kaptheijns (Crelan-charles) rounded off a successful but eventful weekend by winning the fourth round of the Superprest­ige in Ruddervoor­de, her fourth consecutiv­e win in the competitio­n. The 23-year-old won Saturday’s De Grote Prijs van Brabant, but cut her knee, reportedly on a disc brake.

Sunday, October 29

Normal service was resumed in Belgium with Mathieu van der Poel (Beobank-corendon) and Wout van Aert (Crelan-charles) duelling it out for the win at the Ruddervoor­de round of the Superprest­ige series, the former beating the latter by 10 seconds. Jens Dekker (Beobankcor­endon) won the U23 race.

Sunday, October 29

Colombian Ana Sanabria won her home race, the Women’s Tour of Colombia. The Servettogi­usta rider won the opening prologue and stages three and five. A two-time Colombian national time trial champion, she finished eighth at La Course atop the Col d’izoard this July.

Monday, October 30

After taking five stages and the overall at the Tour of Taihu Lake a fortnight ago, Italian Jakub Mareczko continued his Chinese dominance by winning stages two and three of the Tour of Hainan. The Wilier Triestina-selle Italia rider placed second on stage one. The race concludes on Sunday.
