Exotically named Italian brand ALAN (derived from first two letters of founder Lodovico Falconi’s children, Alberto and Annamaria — mercifully that way round) were the daddy of all cyclo-cross frames from the 70s through to 90s. The company burst onto the scene in 1972 with its revolutionary lugged aluminium frames. Lightweight and minimalist, ALAN frames have been ridden to no fewer than 20 cross world titles.
