Ashmei 3 Season System

From £55, ash

Cyclist - - New Gear -

When we say Ashmei’s new 3 Season System is ‘from £55’, there’s a bit of caveat, as 55 nicker pays just for the armwarmers. (Incidentally, ‘nicker’ is said to derive from London 1900s slang pertaining to the use of nickel in alloyed coin metal.) As for the rest, you’re looking at £75 for the legwarmers, £235 for the bibshorts and £220 for the jersey. Or £585 all in. That’s a lot of nicker. Or is it?

‘The key to the 3 Season is versatility,’ says Ashmei product designer Elliot Welland. ‘The system all worn together is best suited to temperatures around 5-6°C, but as it’s modular it can take you well past 10°C for a variety of conditions. The fabrics are all bespoke, designed specifically for cycling, so are highly water resistant, windproof, compressive and breathable by their very nature.’

That means the 3 Season should retain its highperformance properties, ride-in, ride-out, but moreover, as a complete system it is at least three kits in one: no-legwarmers autumnal hardman, full-coverage winter and fresh spring bibs and jersey. That would still be £195 per kit, but we reckon it would cover you for at least nine months of the year, and given the quality, would last for many years to come.
