One Obsession

Cyclist - - One Obsession -

For many of us, cycling is more than just a sport or a hobby. It is an integral part of our lives to the point where to be without it is unthinkable. We ride for fun, sometimes for punishment, sometimes simply to get somewhere, and at other times just to escape. And when we swing a leg over a saddle, we become part of a global cycling community, whether we’re a pro racer or joining the weekend club run. This supplement is about that shared passion. It tells the stories of three very different cyclists, who are riding at different levels and in different disciplines, yet each of whom lives for the bike.

Ed Clancy is a multiple gold medal-winning Olympian on the track and a road racer for JLTCondor, who fought back from a severe injury to win with Team GB at Rio and who has his sights set on more Olympic medals in Tokyo in 2020.

Then there’s Rudy Melo, a designer by trade, whose urban collective 5th Floor is at the cutting edge of London club cycling culture, bringing together a group of like-minded enthusiasts who ride, race, drink coffee and design bikes.

Dan Atherton, meanwhile, is part of mountain biking’s first family, which includes more World Champions than most nations. When he’s not riding, he’s out with a shovel in the forests of Wales, striving to create the perfect mountain biking trail.

Together, these three all live for their obsession.
