HE’S not yet a full Welsh international, but Aberdare-born Thomas Young is in the running to be the European Rugby Player of the Year.

He is the only Welshman on a 15-man shortlist nominated for the prestigious award.

The flanker has been in great form for Aviva Premiership side Wasps this season, scoring five tries in 22 appearances so far.

Fans will be able to vote for their favourite player online from Monday, April 3, before the list is reduced to five players on Monday, April 24.

A seven-man judging panel will then select the overall winner who will be announced in May.
