Festival brings mixed fortunes for players
THE 97th Spring Brass Band Festival took place at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, last Saturday.
Three competitions took place, each with about 20 bands and each contest is a stepping stone towards taking part in the British Open Brass Band Championships which take place on Saturday, September 9, at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
Results of Welsh bands competing in the Blackpool Spring Festival on Saturday were rather disappointing with three of our four bands finding themselves relegated to the Senior Cup from the Grand Shield Section.
However congratulations to City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) who finished in 4th place in the Senior Cup and were promoted to the Grand Shield.
