Plan to build new homes for the elderly
FOUR new accommodation facilities may be built after RCT council announced it could invest £50m in new services.
Plans discussed by the council’s cabinet last week proposed creating the four extra-care facilities to deliver “modern accommodation” for the elderly.
According to the council, the plans have come about as they attempt to revamp how they care and support the older generations, and 300 extra care places are needed.
Councillor Geraint Hopkins, cabinet member for adult social care, said: “Times have changed, and a bold approach is required to ensure that a sustainable model of care is created.”
Discussed on Thursday, the report sets out how the cabinet could reshape services to increase options for older people needing accommodation with care and support, whilst promoting independence.
