Keep up pressure for extra services
IT was good news for local commuters when Arriva Trains Wales provided four additional Sunday train services between Aberdare and Cardiff in response to my campaign.
The support from Cynon Valley Leader readers, and their active participation through, for example, completing my online survey, played a crucial role in building the evidence base to make the case for these extra services.
Of course, the services were only initially provided for the first three Sundays in December – there is now a case to make so that commuters in the New Year have a wider selection of train services available that meet their needs.
As part of this, I would welcome any anecdotal evidence from Leader readers saying how the extra services have helped them. That could be to make it easier to get to and from work, to meet with family, or even just to access the enhanced leisure opportunities the extra services could have provided.
These accounts, of how extra train services have made a difference, will really help me put the case to Arriva bosses. If you have used these services, if they have helped you out in any way, please write to me at Vikki.
