The closing date for entries is January 6. This will be the 21st occasion at the Grand Pavilion and it will always evoke memories of the day that Paul Robeson spoke to the miners via the trans Atlantic cable from America as he had been prevented from attending their Eisteddfod by the American Government.
The present contest began as the Miners’ Entertainment Championships and was initially held over two days with five band sections taking part. Due to financial reasons it was curtailed to one day and reduced to one contest which combined Championship and First Section bands, with the highest First Section band receiving a prize.
The contest starts at noon and doors will be open at 11.30am.
