We’re over-governed as it is, thank you!

Cynon Valley - - YOUR VIEWS - P Edwards Pontypridd

WHO else has read about the “expert panel” which has concluded that the number of Assembly Members at the Senedd should rise from 60 to 90? This is a joke, surely? Wales must be one of the most over-governed places on planet earth. We have community councillors, county borough councillors, Assembly Members and Members of Parliament. Our population of just over three million people has 22 local authorities for goodness’ sake! Then there is the European elite, though thankfully we’ll be rid of them soon.

And the upshot of all this political representation? Many parts of Wales are among the poorest regions in the whole of Europe, while in a British context 20 years of Assembly rule sees us perform poorly in health and educational outcomes.

Sorry, but I believe we’ve got more than enough politicians already.

The debating chamber at the Senedd in Cardiff. But do we have enough politicians here in Wales?
