If you’ve a good cause to sup­port, then Cyt­gord Welsh Ladies Choir could be a no-cost way to help you raise funds. The choir is based in Aber­dare and ex­ists to help peo­ple to learn Welsh through song. New mem­bers are al­ways wel­come.

Prac­tices are con­ducted in Welsh and English to as­sist learn­ers.

The choir meets to re­hearse each week dur­ing school term time at Siloa Chapel, in Aber­dare, next to the li­brary, on Thurs­days, from 7.15pm-9pm.

We are a small char­ity that works with chil­dren with ad­di­tional needs and their fam­i­lies.

We work with chil­dren be­tween the ages of three and 11 years.

They par­tic­i­pate in play schemes, or­gan­ised ac­tiv­i­ties and day trips with the sup­port of vol­un­teers.

New Hori­zons men­tal health char­ity has a cen­tre in Aber­dare which is open at the fol­low­ing times:

Mon­days, 4pm-8pm – Youth Project;

Tues­days, 11am-1pm – ac­tiv­i­ties, groups and train­ing;

Wednesdays, 9am-4pm – ac­tiv­i­ties, groups and train­ing.

Closed bank hol­i­days.

The Com­mu­nity Youth Club con­tin­ues to take place every Wed­nes­day from 5pm at the Church Hall. £1 per ses­sion and is open to chil­dren 10 and over.

When shop­ping at Asda Cwm­bach there are green to­kens avail­able to sup­port lo­cal good causes. This ses­sion Pen­rhi­w­ceiber Pri­mary are one of the groups try­ing to get as many to­kens as pos­si­ble for im­prove­ments to the school yard. So when shop­ping pop your to­kens in their box.

One of the many pos­i­tive de­vel­op­ments tak­ing place is a new web­site.

Dur­ing the lent sea­son there will be var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties and ser­vices tak­ing place at St Winifred’s so take a look at their Face­book page or web­page to find out more.

The lot­tery num­bers on Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 9, were 1, 2, 3, 7. The jack­pot is now £3,175.

Tick­ets priced £1 each, you must be 16+ to en­ter. We are look­ing for peo­ple to help us in re­cep­tion, shop work and driv­ing our clients back and forth from their can­cer-re­lated hospi­tal ap­point­ments. Driv­ers are ur­gently needed in the Rhondda area. If you are able to help please con­tact the cen­tre on 01443 479369 for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion.

We are also look­ing for vol­un­teers in the role of be­frien­ders vis­it­ing clients at their home one hour per week.

This may be a lifeline for many clients as you may be the only per­son they see all week.
