A NEWLY opened convenience shop has donated more than 100 Easter eggs to schoolchildren as a thank you for being welcomed to the community.

The owners of the Family Shopper store in Llwydcoed donated 101 Easter eggs to every child at Llwydcoed Primary School on Tuesday.

Joe Singh, 27, who owns the shop with his wife Gagan Basainty, said: “We have only been open for just over five months now and the community have just welcomed us, so we wanted to give something back.

“I think it helps that we are the only shop in the village and we’re right on the main road.

“The building was rundown and disused too for a few years before we came here.”

He again thanked the community and asked for their continued support.

Mr Singh said the school was thrilled with the donation and is planning an Easter egg hunt.

He said: “The school are very pleased that we are giving away the eggs for free and they said they have an Easter egg hunt planned.”
