Pupils unveil mosaic tribute to WWI soldiers
PUPILS at an Aberdare school created mosaic murals to commemorate the First World War.
A number of Year Nine pupils at Aberdare Community School created three large murals over a number of months.
Students decided to create the mosaics after receiving a Welsh Government grant called Remembering the First World War.
Between June and September 2017, the teams of pupils worked on the project during their lessons and lunch breaks.
A statement from the school said: “The dedication, maturity and compassion they showed during the project was humbling to behold.
“However, we could not have completed the project without the support of our wonderful technicians who have dedicated countless hours to perfecting the mosaics further.”
Aberdare company D&R Tiles donated mosaic tiles to the school for the project.
