On Thursday, March 8, we launched our latest exhibition and conference programme – Vote 100 which explores the granting of the vote to some women over the age of 30 in 1918.
The Cynon Valley was the backdrop for a vibrant local suffragist campaign. In this exhibition we aim to celebrate local links to this very important development in the social and political life of the valley.
The art gallery and mezzanine gallery show the work of local artists and groups. Displays change every six weeks so there is always something new to see. The main gallery is currently home to an exhibition of painting and sculpture from a group of over 40 artists from across south, mid and west Wales.
We hold a weekly lottery. £1 per entry chose four numbers from 24, minimum prize fund £100. Tickets on sale at the museum shop. Entries for one week, one month and three months can be purchased. All proceeds are used to support the work of the museum.
The museum has two spaces that are available for hire at competitive prices.
We can accommodate events from small meetings to conferences of up to 70 people, and our in house cafe can provide catering for your event or party.
We run an extensive volunteer programme and we are activity looking for people who would like to regularly give a few hours a week to the museum. We are also looking for a small number of specialists who would consider joining our team of trustees.
If you are interested in either of these opportunities please call in, or phone, or contact us by email to arrange a meeting with the team.
Check back with this column each week to see the winning lottery numbers, gallery news, event programme and details of special offers.

Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to a Charity. Gift Aid is a scheme introduced by the Inland Revenue which allows us to claim 25p for every £1 that you donate – as long as you get at least that amount in Tax and give the Charity permission to claim. It is a fantastic scheme that makes donations go even further at no extra cost.
For example if you donate £10.00 then we can claim £2.50, making your donation worth £12.50.
The guidelines requires a Gift Aid Declaration Form to be completed; this then gives us the data we need to be able to claim Gift Aid as a donation.
