EBBW VALE ................. 43 SWANSEA ...................... 3

GREG Woods praised Ebbw Vale’s defence as the Steelmen thrashed Swansea at Eugene Cross Park.

Ebbw had only conceded 15 points in their previous three games and the only score the visitors managed were from a Luke Griffiths penalty, but the hosts were already way out in front by then.

Lewis Dennett kicked three penalties inside the opening 10 minutes and added the conversions to Dan Haymond’s two tries before Griffiths struck.

Ebbw continued to attack and tries from Joe Franchi, Toby Fricker and Jon Davies earned them a bonus point.

“I thought we were very dominant and continued where we left off in midweek during the cup match against Bargoed,” said Woods.

“Our defence was really hard to break down and I thought we added that little bit extra in attack so instead of winning by 20 points with kicks, we won by 40 points thanks to some excellent tries.

Ebbw Vale: Tries: D Haymond (2), J Franchi, T Fricker, J Davies; Cons: L Dennett (3); Pens: L Dennett (4).
