THIS latest incarnation of the Ex Club have found their debut season in the First Division a difficult one and their latest outing resulted in another painful lesson at the hands of the visiting Express who continue to move upwards pushing for a topthree finish.
The Express were quick to get up a head of steam with the top triples of Peter Locke 100, Darren Locke 100 and Steve Nicholas holding throw over Jason Davies 100, Lloyd Price and Matthew Sullivan for an early lead which they quickly doubled with Kevin Hyde, Brian Nicholas 100 and Wayne Titcomb 125 breaking Shane Williams 2x100, D Cook and Lloyd Davies for a 2-0 lead heading into the pairs legs.
The first pairs went the way of the away side with Peter Locke 2x100 and Steve Nicholas 100, 140 cruising past Wayne O’Neill 100 and Steve Mahoney for a 3-0 lead before D Cook 100, 140 and Jason Davies held their throw over Owain Davies and Paul Thomas getting the first point on the board for the home side. A shock break from Shane Williams 3x100 and Andrew Davies over Dean Thomas and Darren Locke then saw the Ex gain a second point the cut the deficit to a single point heading into the match deciding singles match-ups.
Peter Locke 2x100, 140 took the first of the singles with a fine 2-0 break over Shane Williams 2x100, 121, 140 making it 4-2 to the Express which then became 5-2 with The Dazzler Darren Locke 100, 3x140 coming back from 1-0 down to secure a 2-1 hold over a battling D Cook 100, 140. “Dynamite” Dean Thomas 2x100, 140 broke Andrew Davies (2-0) further extending the visitors’ lead with Wayne Titcomb 3x100, 121 keeping the momentum going with a hard fought 2-1 hold, coming back from 1-0 down, over Jason Davies 2 x100,135,93ou tina great game. Steve Nicholas 100, 120, 2x140 secured a fine 2-0 break over Wayne O’Neill 100, 140 making it 8-2 with Owain Davies 121, 140 then securing the 9-2 win with a hold (2-0) over Wayne Jones 2x100.

Ceri Stent 100, 140, Connor John 140 and Johnny Murphy got the Seaside rolling in with a fine hold over Phil Locke, Steve Thomas 140 and Kerry Green and then a break from Barrie Gilby 100, 180, Robert Pike and J Stent over Lyn Jones, Roy Element and Ryan Element gave the Pen a shock 2-0 lead going into the pairs battles.
The first pairs leg went with throw as Drew Bradley and Johnny Murphy 100 beat Phil Locke and Lyn Jones 100 making it 3-0 which then became a big surprise 4-0 with Robert Pike 100 and Ceri Richards breaking the vastly experienced Steve Thomas and Adrian Thomas. The Pen then completed a clean sweep of the pairs legs and a five-zip lead with Connor John 140 and Ceri Stent 100 successfully holding over Kerry Green and Roy Element as one of the shocks of the season continued to unfold.
The first of the singles match-ups saw the Grawen finally arrive in the game with Phil Locke 7x100, in great form, holding 2-1 over Barrie Gilby 100 with the evergreen Kerry Green 2x100, 118, 140 then breaking (2-0) Ceri Richards 140 earning the hosts a second point. Steve Thomas 2x100, 2x125, 140 including a 17-dart first leg then held throw (2-1) over Ceri Stent 100, 125 to put a second point on the board and raise hopes of a superb, yet unlikely, comeback but this was snuffed out in the next game with Drew Bradley 2x100, 125 holding (2-0) over the legendary Adrian Thomas 140 for a 6-3 away lead. Connor John battled hard in the next game for a 2-0 break over Lyn Jones 2x100, with Johnny Murphy then completing the excellent victory with a 2-0 hold over Ryan Element 100.
