THIS lat­est in­car­na­tion of the Ex Club have found their de­but sea­son in the First Divi­sion a dif­fi­cult one and their lat­est out­ing re­sulted in another painful les­son at the hands of the vis­it­ing Ex­press who con­tinue to move up­wards push­ing for a topthree fin­ish.

The Ex­press were quick to get up a head of steam with the top triples of Pe­ter Locke 100, Dar­ren Locke 100 and Steve Ni­cholas hold­ing throw over Ja­son Davies 100, Lloyd Price and Matthew Sul­li­van for an early lead which they quickly dou­bled with Kevin Hyde, Brian Ni­cholas 100 and Wayne Tit­comb 125 break­ing Shane Wil­liams 2x100, D Cook and Lloyd Davies for a 2-0 lead head­ing into the pairs legs.

The first pairs went the way of the away side with Pe­ter Locke 2x100 and Steve Ni­cholas 100, 140 cruis­ing past Wayne O’Neill 100 and Steve Ma­honey for a 3-0 lead be­fore D Cook 100, 140 and Ja­son Davies held their throw over Owain Davies and Paul Thomas get­ting the first point on the board for the home side. A shock break from Shane Wil­liams 3x100 and An­drew Davies over Dean Thomas and Dar­ren Locke then saw the Ex gain a se­cond point the cut the deficit to a sin­gle point head­ing into the match de­cid­ing sin­gles match-ups.

Pe­ter Locke 2x100, 140 took the first of the sin­gles with a fine 2-0 break over Shane Wil­liams 2x100, 121, 140 mak­ing it 4-2 to the Ex­press which then be­came 5-2 with The Daz­zler Dar­ren Locke 100, 3x140 com­ing back from 1-0 down to se­cure a 2-1 hold over a bat­tling D Cook 100, 140. “Dy­na­mite” Dean Thomas 2x100, 140 broke An­drew Davies (2-0) fur­ther ex­tend­ing the vis­i­tors’ lead with Wayne Tit­comb 3x100, 121 keep­ing the mo­men­tum go­ing with a hard fought 2-1 hold, com­ing back from 1-0 down, over Ja­son Davies 2 x100,135,93ou tina great game. Steve Ni­cholas 100, 120, 2x140 se­cured a fine 2-0 break over Wayne O’Neill 100, 140 mak­ing it 8-2 with Owain Davies 121, 140 then se­cur­ing the 9-2 win with a hold (2-0) over Wayne Jones 2x100.

Ceri Stent 100, 140, Con­nor John 140 and Johnny Mur­phy got the Sea­side rolling in with a fine hold over Phil Locke, Steve Thomas 140 and Kerry Green and then a break from Bar­rie Gilby 100, 180, Robert Pike and J Stent over Lyn Jones, Roy Ele­ment and Ryan Ele­ment gave the Pen a shock 2-0 lead go­ing into the pairs bat­tles.

The first pairs leg went with throw as Drew Bradley and Johnny Mur­phy 100 beat Phil Locke and Lyn Jones 100 mak­ing it 3-0 which then be­came a big sur­prise 4-0 with Robert Pike 100 and Ceri Richards break­ing the vastly ex­pe­ri­enced Steve Thomas and Adrian Thomas. The Pen then com­pleted a clean sweep of the pairs legs and a five-zip lead with Con­nor John 140 and Ceri Stent 100 suc­cess­fully hold­ing over Kerry Green and Roy Ele­ment as one of the shocks of the sea­son con­tin­ued to un­fold.

The first of the sin­gles match-ups saw the Grawen fi­nally ar­rive in the game with Phil Locke 7x100, in great form, hold­ing 2-1 over Bar­rie Gilby 100 with the ev­er­green Kerry Green 2x100, 118, 140 then break­ing (2-0) Ceri Richards 140 earn­ing the hosts a se­cond point. Steve Thomas 2x100, 2x125, 140 in­clud­ing a 17-dart first leg then held throw (2-1) over Ceri Stent 100, 125 to put a se­cond point on the board and raise hopes of a su­perb, yet un­likely, come­back but this was snuffed out in the next game with Drew Bradley 2x100, 125 hold­ing (2-0) over the leg­endary Adrian Thomas 140 for a 6-3 away lead. Con­nor John bat­tled hard in the next game for a 2-0 break over Lyn Jones 2x100, with Johnny Mur­phy then com­plet­ing the ex­cel­lent vic­tory with a 2-0 hold over Ryan Ele­ment 100.
