Jail for man who abused for 50 years

A PAEDOPHILE who preyed on young girls for more than 50 years has finally been brought to justice – at the age of 73.

Abuser Robin Woodrow- Gill indecently assaulted his first victim when he was just 18 in the late1950s. He was still targeting girls 55 years later when in 2014 he was caught grooming his next victim.

He was jailed for 10 years at Truro Crown Court in Cornwall after admitting eight sexual offences. Judge Christopher Harvey Clark QC, said he had perpetrated “pernicious evil”.

Joss Ticehurst, prosecuting, said his mask of respectability came off after his latest victim told her mother that Woodrow- Gill, of Torpoint, Cornwall, had touched her. He said: “The defendant said it was ‘ their secret’. He would give her sweets and gifts… slowly ingratiating himself with her.”

Soon after the girl’s mother told the police, two other victims came forward after hearing of the arrest.
