IT WILL not be long until the schools break up for their summer holidays and sunny resorts are squeezed full of children running around and splashing water all over the book you have been saving for your week off by the pool.

But it’s really not that bad. Everyone has to take a holiday ( or two if we can) but it is nice to be around like- minded people who enjoy the same things.

Children like to be around other children and parents like to be around other parents so they can chat about normal family stuff.

Those not holidaying with children usually want a bit more peace and quiet on their holiday and will pick non- school holiday weeks to take a break.

Holidaymakers who own a timeshare property usually bought a fi xed apartment and week, often two decades ago or more.

That meant that they were guaranteed a holiday in that specifi c week each and every year, as long as they paid their annual maintenance fees.

A lot of timeshare companies have now forced these clients into what are called “fl oating weeks”.

Customers are persuaded to purchase into this “upgrade” based on such benefi ts as fl exibility and no exchange fees when they swap weeks.

But those now owning peak weeks around Christmas, new year, Easter and summer holidays, can fi nd themselves fi ghting to retain the right to occupy these weeks; often having to make a reservation up to two years in advance.

Timeshare resorts are increasingly being fi lled with “promotional” clients; people who book through various low- cost websites or special offer sites like Groupon or Wowcher, which makes it even harder for timeshare owners to make a booking at the time they want. These promotional customers are often enticed with offers of free extras ( wifi , pool towels, breakfast etc) which timeshare owners don’t usually receive.

All this just adds salt into the wounds of timeshare owners, as often non- owners are able to holiday in timeshare resorts at a fraction of the cost compared with what a timeshare owner pays, especially when one factors in the original purchase price of the timeshare and the increasingly costly annual maintenance fees.

Basically, owners are often being squeezed out but still forced to bear the fi nancial responsibility to keep the timeshare club afl oat.

These are just some of the frustrations that timeshare owners face each year. Many timeshare owners seek advice from impartial companies like Sell My Timeshare. tv on how to deal with their own personal situation.

Sell My Timeshare. tv has three offi ces in the UK and one in Tenerife, offering advice to owners on how to get the most from timeshare, how to book more easily or how to exit their timeshare entirely and be free to holiday in hotels, villas or even on cruiseships.
