England’s World Cup stars all deserve a knighthood
I WONDER if the powers that be have given any thought to the fact that this coming Saturday, July 30, it will be 50 years since that great day in 1966.
That day one of the greatest sporting events in our history took place at Wembley when England won the World Cup beating West Germany 4-2 in extra-time (“World Cup success on a plate”, July 25).
Isn’t it about time we gave these boys the recognition they deserve in the form of knighthoods?
Time rolls on and they’re all getting older... some have died.
How about we show these footballing heroes how proud of them we still are and how the memory of that day is etched in our hearts and minds forever?
