says being called a sex symbol is offensive.
The actress, who is often admired for her striking looks and sartorial style, has shrugged off the label that has followed her into her eighth decade.
“I’m not sexy!” insists the 71-year-old when asked about her image in Hollywood. “When [people say] I’m a sexual object I’d argue. ‘I’m so not that.’ It’s just something that gets hung on your back and you can never quite get it off.”
However this hasn’t stopped the Oscar-winner from striking a sultry pose for the 2017 Pirelli calendar – an almanac that over the decades has become famous for featuring “tasteful” photographs of naked or scantily clad women shot in exotic locations.
