Youth facing murder quiz over girl, 16

-

A TEENAGE boy was last night being questioned on suspicion of murdering a 16-year-old girl.

The body of Leonne Weeks was found on a path soon after her mother reported her missing.

It is understood student Leonne failed to return home on Sunday evening.

When she had not made contact by 10.30am next day, her mother Paula Appleby called 999.

Twenty minutes later, a member of the public told police of a girl’s body on a pathway in the Dinnington area of Rotherham.

An 18-year-old youth was arrested that evening.

Mrs Appleby is separated from Leonne’s father Darran. She was said to be too distraught to speak as she laid flowers at the death scene yesterday.

She captioned a Facebook picture of her three children: “My world.”
