Given tells Pep to recall City exile
PEP GUARDIOLA has been urged to swallow his pride and restore Joe Hart as Manchester City’s No 1 goalkeeper. Former City stopper Shay Given says Guardiola needs to recall England international Hart when his loan spell at Torino ends in the summer. Guardiola’s controversial decision to offload Hart in August and bring in Claudio Bravo has backfired badly with the Chile international failing to impress since his £17million move from Barcelona. City sources say there is no recall option in Hart’s loan deal during the season but he will rejoin them in the summer when a number of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, are expected to be interested. Given, who was replaced by Hart as City’s No1 in 2010, believes Guardiola would be making a mistake by not having another look at a player who has been in good form in Serie A.
“Joe was maybe harshly treated at the start of the season,” said Given, speaking to TalkSport. “But he is still on the books, he is still a Manchester City player.
“For the first three or four months of the season Yaya Toure wasn’t getting a look in and he managed to change Guardiola’s mind. Why can Joe not do that? Maybe bring him back and have a look at him before he makes another decision over a goalkeeper in
