I knew that he cheated – Keys’ wife
THE WIFE of soccer presenter Richard Keys realised he was cheating as she was writing a book on infidelity.
Julia Keys has told how she picked up on tell tale signs as her husband, 59, started an affair with a 27-year-old friend of the couple’s daughter.
Trained counsellor Julia, 57, is now divorcing Keys after he admitted that he had “grown close” to blonde Lucie Rose and had spent nights in a hotel with her.
Julia said that her 34-year marriage came to an end when she was researching a book on adultery.
“There were the classic symptoms,” she said. “He was over protective with his phone, there were secret calls, late night texts.”
The final proof came last May on a holiday in Cornwall when Keys fell asleep and Julia answered a text from Lucie Rose pretending to be her husband. Julia confronted Keys who admitted that he had grown close to Lucie. He promised that the affair was over but Julia said: “I knew it wasn’t.”
The final straw came in December when Julia discovered that Keys had arranged to meet Lucie again during a business trip to Dubai. This was followed by pictures taken of them during a two-night stay at a hotel.
Julia said that despite everything she remains fond of Keys. She said: “It is very hard for me to consider life without him. It is truly tragic.”
