So sad Taylor is missing it all

- GIDEON BROOKS

LINCOLN director Roger Bates has spoken of his sadness that former Imps manager Graham Taylor is not around to see their FA Cup heroics.

The former England boss, right, played for Lincoln and started his managerial career at Sincil Bank.

“My dad took me to Lincoln in 1968 and then in 1975 Graham Taylor produced that magic side which broke all the records,” said Bates. “I’ve always blamed Graham for my passion for the club and sadly we lost him just before this run. Someone said to me that this result will go around the world, and that’s quite scary. “But there has been a shift in that the people of Lincoln have made a reconnection with the club this year. “We’re going places and trying to win the league, but to be one game away from Wembley is staggering.”
