I MOCK MY WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN’, SAYS BILLY
BILLY Connolly has told how he pokes fun at his Parkinson’s Disease by listening to the Jerry Lee Lewis hit Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.
The comedian was diagnosed with the disease three years ago – the same day he discovered he had prostate cancer.
But the double diagnosis has never dented the Scot’s sense of humour.
In a documentary celebrating his career on ITV on Tuesday night, he said: “When I’m in front of people performing I don’t give it much attention, I perform in spite of it.
“That’s why I put on Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On, just to do that [swearing] to it.”
In Billy Connolly And Me: A Celebration, Connolly’s famous fans – including Dame Judi Dench, Sir Elton John, Peter Kay and Sir Andy Murray – pay warm tribute to him.
Kay recalled one moment from his past when he realised Connolly’s genius: “We were all sat in the front room and were just in hysterics laughing... my dad crawling around on his hands and knees laughing. I don’t think there is a comedian in the world that hasn’t learned something from him.”
