Kate swerves a cheeky question

- By Richard Palmer

THE Duchess of Cambridge was put on the spot in a class on environmentalism yesterday when a boy asked: “How many cars do you have?”

Kate, who has access to a fleet of royal cars at her two main homes in London and Norfolk, burst out laughing and said, “Oh my goodness.” She blustered briefly before saying she had a Land Rover.

Five-year-old Rafi Ahmed surprised her with the cheeky question. Rafi said later: “Then she asked me ‘what’s your favourite car?’ I said a Lamborghini.”

He was among schoolchildren at Docklands Sailing Centre on the Isle of Dogs in East London to see a marinethemed roadshow.

It was staged by the 1851 Trust, the official charity of Britain’s America’s Cup sailing team, Land Rover Bar. Kate is its patron.
