SHIRE JOY FOR PAUL

DAY & NIGHT joined Express photographer Paul Stewart for the launch of his new photo book in London’s Hyde Park. The Last Herd tells the story in pictures of the capital’s last working shire horses in the Royal Parks and Palaces. The book, which also features a contribution from our own Environment Editor John Ingham, already had the royal seal of approval with Prince Charles no less providing the foreword. Paul now hopes the Prince will see the finished article.

“I’d like to get the chance to give him a copy of the book,” Paul tells us. And he also hopes the tome will open up opportunities on the other side of the pond. “People have got in touch with me about the New York Horse State Council asking if I could help do something similar to save the shires in America.”
