New arrival at the Palace will keep Victoria amused

Daily Express - - NEWS - By Giles Sheldrick

JENNA Coleman has won plaudits as Queen Victoria but a new character is set to steal the show in tomorrow night’s instalment of the ITV drama.

After bidding farewell to beloved cavalier King Charles spaniel, Dash, in the last series, Victoria finds herself smitten with a new arrival.

Islay, a beautiful white West Highland terrier puppy, is soon given the run of the palace.

Sadly no such bonding occurs with the Queen’s son, as Victoria finds herself unable to connect with the new Prince of Wales after becoming paralysed by an inexplicable sorrow after a difficult birth. Then tragic news sees Albert depart for Germany – it is the first time the couple have been apart since their wedding.

Victoria got Dash when she was just 13. He is buried in Windsor Home Park and a statue over his grave bears the inscription: “Here lies Dash, the favourite spaniel of Her Majesty Queen Victoria.”

The next episode of Victoria is on ITV tomorrow at 9pm.
