Rooney raring to go says Ron

MANCHESTER CITY are hopeful Ilkay Gundogan will be back in action after the next international break after his injury fears were eased.

The Germany star, right, limped out of Wednesday’s win at West Brom following a challenge by Claudio Yacob when making his first start in nine months since a cruciate ligament injury. RONALD KOEMAN says Wayne Rooney is ready to put his off-field troubles behind him and focus on improving Everton’s fortunes.

Rooney is set to play tomorrow for the first time since getting a two-year driving ban on Monday after admitting drink-driving.

The former England captain was rested for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win over Sunderland but manager Koeman has indicated he is likely to return against Bournemouth in the league. He said: “We can keep going on about Wayne and what happened. I think it’s the end of the story. He has said enough and it’s not up to me to continue talking about what happened. He’s focused on his football. OK, he needs to deal with what happened but if it’s like before [the court case], there’s no difference with Wayne in terms of discipline in his football.”

Koeman said he has reminded his players of their responsibilities off the pitch. BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche claims former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is hungry to show he is still Premier League class. Lindegaard, left, has signed a contract at Turf Moor until the end of the season after impressing during a trial. Dyche said: “He seems very motivated to really fight and get fit and sharp.” ●SLAVEN BILIC has warned West Ham’s £24million record signing Marko Arnautovic that “has got to produce it, not only in big games”.
