Treat MPs with decency

Daily Express - - NEWS -

MANCHESTER police are mounting an unprecedented security operation for this year’s Conservative Party conference. They face not just the threat of terrorism but the growing problem of attacks and abuse by Left-wing groups. As Stephen Pollard says on this page, thuggish behaviour by activists from the political Left was a feature of last year’s conference as well.

The level of vitriol directed at politicians of all parties is a troubling phenomenon. There is much wrong with our political class but all of our MPs are well-meaning people engaged in public service.

In a free society we have a right to disagree with them but they also have the right to be treated with decency and respect.
