Fulham give QPR more Friday pain
QPR’s Friday misery continued as Jack Robinson’s own-goal helped pave the way to another defeat.
Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks saw his 41st-minute shot deflect in off Robinson and then Stefan Johansen’s late second condemned QPR to an 11th straight league defeat on a Friday.
The second came after Fulham’s Rui Fonte had missed a penalty, although Conor
Washington made it nervy with an injury-time goal – in 10 minutes of added time.
QPR’s astonishing sequence of results on the day stretches back to December.
Fulham’s biggest strength is their pace and they again showed that attribute with Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo unfortunate not to give his side the lead as he fired wide from Fonte’s pass.
Rangers nearly took the lead at the other end as Luke Freeman’s deflected shot went just wide of the post while Pawel Wszolek also missed.
Johansen drove into the side netting while Fonte missed a great chance. Fulham had big claims for a sending off when Robinson looked to push over Ojo when last man. No foul was given but it was Robinson who deflected in Fredericks’ 25-yard effort.
QPR started the second half well with Massimo Luongo’s drive pushed around the post by David Button.
Fulham were dealt a blow when Ojo was stretchered with a collarbone.
But they ignored that with Johansen scoring inn the 85th minute from Fonte’s pass moments after the Fulham striker had blazed over after Joel Lych had fouled Neeskens Kebano in the box.
